I completed my undergraduate studies at University of Pittsburgh, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and English Literature, graduating in the top 2% of my class and summa cum laude. I attended medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, graduating first in my class and summa cum laude. Following medical school, I completed an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center. I finalized my formal training with a one-year fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at State University of New York at Buffalo. I have been practicing full-time as a hand and upper extremity surgeon since 2000, and have practiced in Des Moines since 2010.
I am truly excited to also be in the field of medical aesthetics since 2019! I received excellent hands-on training at National Laser Institute in Phoenix, AZ, and have diligently continued my education independently, furthering my knowledge and learning from experienced practitioners. My outstanding skill set as a surgeon easily transfers into the area of facial aesthetics. I understand the importance of attention to detail, as I have been performing complex and intricate surgical procedures for nearly two decades. I am meticulous about utilizing safety measures to optimize outcomes.
I am passionate about this chapter in my career, and look forward to meeting new clients and helping them look and feel their best! I focus on educating my clients so they may feel empowered to choose the services that best fit their goals and concerns.
Outside of Timeless Youth MD, I continue to practice hand surgery full time at Capital Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. I have an amazing husband, two very busy daughters, and a golden retriever, and I love spending time with all of them. I also enjoy staying fit with yoga as well as a variety of other activities. I was a collegiate gymnast and still love watching gymnastics. My husband and I are Ohio natives and still maintain our Ohio roots. Yes, we are diehard Buckeye fans!

Dr Melissa is fantastic. I went to Timeless Youth MD for microneedling with PRP. I had heard that it was pretty painful so I was nervous. She applied a numbing cream that helped significantly prior to the procedure. During the procedure she went at my pace and let me take breaks when needed so there was way less pain than I had imagined. Afterwards, I had redness for about a day and then my skin looked AMAZING. Small pores, bright glowing skin, basically overnight. Everyone could notice the results. Her procedure room is so cute, very personal, and she really makes you feel comfortable there. It’s a private room so you don’t have to worry about anything else and can just enjoy your time. I will 100% be back for future PRP microneedling in the future. So glad I went to Timeless Youth MD!!
