Mary is an Asheville native, born and raised, who has lived with her family in Montford since she was a child. She developed her passion for hair and beauty early, graduated from Asheville High School in cosmetology, and went on to earn her cosmetology degree at Dudley Cosmetology University. She has traveled the world and done movie work for television networks, giving her the opportunity to work with all kinds of hair and all types of hair styles.

Mary has served her loyal clientele for more than 30 years, and for more than 20 of those she has owned and operated her own salon business – giving her full control of the services she offers and the environment in which she provides her services.

At her Magnificent Hair Salon in downtown Asheville, Mary uses Design Essentials, a product that she knows well and stands behind. She also carries some products from the Nairobi line.

Mary specializes in permanents, cuts, and basic color for adults. To hear Mary tell it, “I am passionate about this business because I get to work with so many interesting, wonderful people – and I love creating beauty. The best part of my job is getting to amaze people. Nothing is more satisfying than showing them how great they can look!”

Mary’s beauty philosophy is rooted in the importance of education. “I was taught that education is key. My clients trust me because I understand body chemistry and how different types of hair respond to different products. If I can help my clients understand how all of these factors work together, we can create beautiful, healthy hair that makes them feel good.”

Mary adds with a twinkle, “That is my definition of success!”
