Scott Horton | Moonstone

MOONSTONE “Why Moonstone?” is usually the first thing people ask me when I tell them the name of my business. Anybody who knows me knows that I like unusual things. I gravitate toward unique forms of art, music, names, food, and people just to name a few. However, the most simple and honest answer to this question is that the Moonstone represents “New Beginnings”. It is a symbol of inner growth and strength, providing calmness and emotional stability while enhancing intuition, promoting inspiration, creativity, success, and good fortune. Possessing these attributes is a goal I continuously strive to accomplish in this lifetime. Be a better person. Help those in need. Make a positive difference in the world one haircut at a time. So, Moonstone is MY new beginning For over 27 years, I proudly worked as a senior stylist for Bogart Salon in Washington DC It was an amazing experience and I got to work with some of the best of the best in the beauty industry. For that opportunity I will be forever grateful. Bogart set me on the path to become the confident and creative stylist that I am today and they provided me with so many opportunities for continued education that I would have otherwise been hard pressed to afford back in my 20’s and 30’s. Early on in my career I apprenticed under the supervision of the late, and highly regarded stylist to the "who's who" of Washington society, Fernando Ferré (2011). Fern was a longtime standing member of International Coiffure, and one of the original founders of Bogart Salon. He along with his partner Lee Walters put Bogart on the map of Top 10 Salons in Washington DC. for many years according to Washingtonian Magazine. I attribute much of my success to their personal mentoring over my many years in their employment. I absolutely cherish the many long-lasting client relationships that I have. I am truly blessed with so many wonderful folks. Many of which have been with me now for more than 25 years. As I embark on this exciting new chapter in my life, the one thing I can promise you will not change is my loyalty to my clients and providing them with the exceptional service they have come to expect when they sit in my chair. I specialize in hair coloring to include highlighting, dimensional coloring, balayage, glossing, and both single and double process color. I use both Goldwell and Redken color lines. I am a precision cutter to a fault. And to stay up on current trends I enjoy taking multiple continuing education classes each year. I have been told that I am meticulous with my work. I can create soft and playful styles, short and sassy looks with lots of texture and dimension, or you may prefer your hair long and classic. Be it rough and tumble or a more polished look you want, I'm the guy. I’m also not afraid to cut naturally curly hair. I only mention that because often a curly haired client will ask “Are you afraid to cut curly hair?” I specialize in mens cuts, color and color blending to include low lighting gray hair for a more salt & pepper look. I also do great beard and mustache styling. I specialize in the lost art of permanent waving. However, now having just called it a “lost art” it will probably start trending and thus “A comeback!” will be on the horizon. Just know that whatever your desired look, I can assure you that you will receive as close to a perfect end result that is within my abilities to create based on your hair and the condition that it is in when you walk through the door. If nothing else I hope you have learned that I am pretty laid back and have a great sense of humor. Keep it light. Keep it bright. Thank you! I look forward to meeting you soon. Peace Scott
